Eversight Illinois is proud to partner with local Lions clubs in our shared mission of serving the vision-impaired community.
Lions Clubs International and individual Lions clubs are among Eversight Illinois’ largest partners and supporters. Like Eversight Illinois, Lions Clubs International is dedicated to preventing blindness and improving sight. These efforts include providing vision screenings and treatment to those at risk of losing their vision, recycling eyeglasses and supporting eye banks that provide tissue for sight-saving surgeries.
Lions and Lionesses aid us financially as well as through their invaluable volunteer efforts. They spend countless hours each year helping spread our message, advocating about the need for registered eye, organ and tissue donors and educating their communities about corneal transplantation and vision restoration.
Our success would not be possible without their dedication and ongoing support.
Lions Clubs International has also provided grants to Eversight to purchase new laboratory equipment at our affiliates, which allows us to meet the demand for corneal tissue for transplantation as well as research the causes and cures of blinding eye conditions that cannot be cured through transplantation.
Lions Clubs International is the world’s largest service club organization, with more than 46,000 clubs and 1.35 million members around the world. The organization empowers volunteers to serve their communities, meet humanitarian needs, encourage peace and promote international understanding through Lions clubs. For almost 100 years, Lions clubs have worked on projects designed to prevent blindness, restore eyesight and improve eye health and eye care for people worldwide.

Financial support is one of the most powerful ways of bringing the gift of restored sight into the community. Your contribution can help us place corneal tissue where it is needed most. It can be the foundation of new and effective means of educating the public about eye, organ and tissue donation. It can also fund groundbreaking eye and vision research, offering new hope to those who cannot be helped by corneal transplantation. It empowers us to provide our services at little or no charge to those who cannot afford the healthcare costs associated with corneal transplantation.
What other ways can my Club get involved?
We welcome your attendance at any of our special events. For a list of upcoming events, visit our calendar page. We also have opportunities for volunteer Ambassadors, who offer their time and talent to promote eye, organ and tissue donation in their own communities. For more information, visit our Ambassador page.
We offer free 20-minute educational presentations that explain the life-saving and life-enhancing benefits of eye, organ and tissue donation, and offer insight into the donation process. To schedule a presentation for your Lions Club, please contact Kara Kelly at (800) 548-4703, ext. 740 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
