Types of Tissue

We prepare corneas for PK, AK, TK, KLA and EK procedures. Corneas intended for EK are prepared using a Moria microkeratome. Pachymetry readings, cell counts and tissue evaluations are conducted before and after the cut. Surgeons may specify their preferred cut thickness. Tissue prepared for EK is shipped in a sterile viewing chamber, enabling the surgeon to visually inspect the epithelial and endothelial surfaces prior to surgery.

Corneas are preserved in Optisol GS, ethanol, glycerin, Life4C or moist chambers. Scleral tissue is also available by requesting whole globe, 1/2 sclera or 1/4 sclera.
