Dennis Brubaker, Board Chair
Dennis has been a member of the Wood-Ridge Lions Club since 1992. He has held numerous leadership positions and received many honors through the Lions Clubs International organization. Prior to his retirement, Dennis worked for 19 years at Movado Group Inc. He also held management positions with Sea Containers Inc. and Interpool Inc., both container line companies. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army, and served one year in Vietnam. He is a graduate of Monroe College of Business and has a Bachelor of Arts in English from Jersey City State College (now NJCU).
Michael Pacala, Board Vice-Chair
A member of the Carlstadt/East Rutherford Lions Club, Michael has held a number of leadership positions at the Club and District levels and is the recipient of a Melvin Jones Fellowship and an International President’s Commendation. He has also served as President of the Board of Trustees for Camp Marcella. A graduate of Montclair State University, he has a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Accounting and Finance. He also has a Master’s of Business Administration from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
Ray Tigol, CPA, CHFP, Treasurer/Immediate Past Chair
Ray is currently the Controller to the Director of Finance at Carrier Clinic, Inc., a not-for-profit behavioral health facility in Belle Mead, N.J. He brings with him years of experience in both the public and private accounting fields, and has served as a finance department executive. Tigol is a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Healthcare Financial Professional. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, with a major in Accounting, as well as an Executive Masters of Public Administration. He resides in Green Brook, N.J., and has served as the Charter President of the Somerville Metro Lions Club.
Richard Chittum, PDG, Board Secretary
Richard (Rick) is a retired trader and portfolio manager from Bankers Trust Co. He served 30 years in the municipal securities industry in sales, underwriting and trading. He is a Broker with Met-Life Insurance and also works part-time with Riewert Funeral Home. Rick has been a Lion for 28 years, is a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow and a Past President of the Bergenfield Lions Club. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Richmond, studied Russian at Syracuse and served in the U.S. Air Force. Rick and his wife, Barbara, have two sons.
John is the Technical Director International at Mars International, located in Piscataway. He holds a degree in industrial engineering from Purdue University and a business management degree from Furman University. In addition to his work with Eversight, he serves on the Supervisory Committee of the County Educators Federal Credit Union. John’s late wife, Kristi, was a cornea donor.
William Constad, M.D.
In addition to his faculty appointment as a Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-New Jersey Medical School, Dr. Constad has been in private practice with Hudson Eye Physicians and Surgeons since 1985. He has served on multiple committees for the Eye Bank Association of America (EBAA) and Jersey City Medical Center, and has been named among the New York Metro Area's Top Doctors by Castle Connolly Medical, LTD. Dr. Constad has been directly involved with Eversight New Jersey since 1988 and has served as its Medical Director from 1992-95 and 1997-present. He resides in Martinsville, New Jersey.
John (Jack) Felczak
Jack worked with Bristol Myers Squibb from 1966 to 2004 in sales and marketing in the hospital division. His roles included hospital sales representative, hospital sales manager and hospital contract account representative. He worked with all the major hospital buying groups in the North East area. During his career with Bristol Myers, Jack was elected to the “Legion of Excellence” society. This is award is given to only a handful of people who have excelled in their careers in the biomedical sciences. He also received an award from the NY State Society of Hospital Pharmacists as their outstanding representative from a company who was involved in the workings of their society. Jack was elected treasurer of the society for four years and served on their council. In retirement, he works part-time as a pharmacist and as a consultant for a small corporation of three independent pharmacies. He devises marketing plans to expand business and oversee ongoing contracts between the pharmacies and Jersey City Medical Center; he has been in this role since 2004. Jack earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Rutgers College of Pharmacy. He is a registered pharmacist in the state of New Jersey. He and his wife Nancy have two daughters and four grandchildren. They reside in Naples, Fla. for the winter where Jack enjoys golfing and outdoor living with family and friends.
Walter McDermott, Ph.D.
Walter, a cornea recipient, resides in Jersey City with his wife, Gail. Both are retired from the Jersey City Board of Education. In addition to his work as an educator and administrator, Walter has enjoyed a second career on the radio and local television programming. He currently serves as a background actor and extra in various movies and TV shows, including “It’s Complicated” starring Meryl Streep, as well as “Men in Black 3,” “New Year’s Eve” and “The Dictator.”
Elspeth Moore, PCC
Elspeth Moore was a high school teacher for more than 30 years and is an active member of the West Milford Lions Club in West Milford, N.J. She is a Past District Governor and is a Campaign Sightfirst II District Coordinator. She has received several Lions Club awards, including the International President’s Leadership Award, International President’s Certificate and International Melvin Jones Fellowship. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics from the College of St. Elisabeth and completed her Masters of Library and Information Science at Rutgers State University. Elspeth is a member of the Eversight Board of Directors.
John Ryan holds an MBA in Industrial Relations from Baruch College (CCNY) and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Iona College, as well as various certifications from New York University. John first became acquainted with Eversight as a member of the East Brunswick Lions Club, where he was a member for more than 20 years. During his time with the Club, he held every Board office from President to Tail Twister. More recently, he joined the Cranbury Lions Club and currently serves as Tail Twister. there. He also enjoyed a lengthy career in the business sector, with executive positions at the Hertz Corporation and Parsons Brinckerhoff, Inc., an international engineering and consulting company.
Christine, a cornea recipient, is a licensed physical therapist practicing Monmouth County. She has a Bachelor of Science Degree from Rutgers University – Rutgers College, New Brunswick and a Master of Science and Doctorate of Physical Therapy from UMDNJ – SHRP. In her spare time, she enjoys yoga, surfing, snowboarding, hiking, rock climbing and photography.
Ben is a retired manager from Verizon Corporation. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Social and Political Studies from Seton Hall University, and served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps. Ben was invited to join the Metuchen Lions Club in 1981. He has held all officer and director positions within the Club, including multiple terms as President, Secretary and Treasurer. Ben has served as District 16-D Zone Chair, President of the District 16-D Eye & Ear Foundation, District 16-D Membership Chair and 16-D Mission 30 Coordinator.
Margaret Chaplin, Executive Director
Margaret joined Eversight in 2007, when she was appointed Executive Director of Eversight New Jersey. Prior to that, she spent 13 years with the St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia, including seven years as Administrative Director, Professional Services. She has a Master’s degree in Health Services Administration from George Washington University and has worked in the health care industry for more than 20 years.
Kevin W. Ross, President/CEO, Eversight
Kevin has worked with Eversight since 1990. He developed software to track donors and recipients of corneal tissue and to support all Eversight staff responsibilities. As Vice President, Finance and Information Systems, Kevin led the implementation of a $2.5 million tax-exempt bond issue to finance Eversight’s Ann Arbor headquarters and Eversight Michigan lab facility. In November 2007, Kevin was named Eversight’s President and Chief Executive Officer. He holds Master’s degrees in Computer Science and Public Health from the University of Michigan, and serves as a member of the Ann Arbor (Host) Lions Club and the Michigan Alumni Pep Band. Kevin and his wife, Suzanne, live in Ann Arbor, Mich.
Rev. Lois Schembs, Immediate Past Chair
Lois has been a priest in the Episcopal Church since 1982. She has been a Lion since 1994 and is a member of the Westfield Lions Club. She has been President of the Club numerous times and is a Melvin Jones Fellow. She has served Lions District 16E as a Zone Chair, Region Chair and Cabinet Secretary. Lois currently serves as the district Chaplain for the Lions of Districts 16A and 16E. She is a former Chaplain for the HospiceTeam of the Visiting Nurses Association in Elizabeth, N.J., and is a consultant and Past President of the Board of Directors for Youth and Family Counseling Service in Westfield, N.J. Lois received a Bachelor's in History and Anthropology/Sociology from William Smith College, a Master's in American Folk Culture from the Cooperstown Graduate Program in New York and a Master of Divinity from Virginia Theological Seminary. She and her husband, PDG Doug, have one daughter.
