CLEVELAND, May 1, 2024 – The Youngstown Foundation has awarded Eversight a $5,000 grant to support clinical operations in Mahoning and Trumbull counties. This grant will ensure Eversight can continue facilitating eye donation in the northeast Ohio community that makes sight-saving cornea transplants possible.
“We are grateful for The Youngstown Foundation’s steadfast support,” said Becky Harris, Philanthropy Director, Foundations & Corporations, Eversight. “This grant will allow Eversight to honor the wishes of up to nine Mahoning and Trumbull residents to give the gift of sight as eye donors. Their support will also help restore sight to two additional Mahoning and Trumbull residents.”
In 2023, Eversight worked with the families of 61 Mahoning County residents and 21 Trumbull County residents who gave the gift of sight. In the same year, Eversight provided tissues for transplants that restored sight to 66 Mahoning and Trumbull County residents.
“We take pride in knowing that we have partnered with such a tremendous organization, one that offers the priceless gift of sight for those in need of it in our community,” said Lynnette Forde, President of The Youngstown Foundation.
The Youngstown Foundation’s mission is to provide financial assistance to charitable, scientific and educational institutions that promote the mental, moral and physical well-being of the inhabitants of the Youngstown community.
Eversight serves as northeast Ohio’s only eye bank and provider of corneal tissue for transplantation. Deeply ingrained partnerships with peer healthcare organizations in Ohio strengthen Eversight’s community connection and commitment to being responsible stewards of the gift of sight for Ohioans.
