A tribute from: Trudy Poyner - Donor Mom

What a Life!

Ronette came into the world in a hurry, before the doctor could get there, she seemed to know she needed to hurry.

What a LIFE!

She started school at 4 years old, and just went. She met the love of her life Charles and they began there family,

the girls, Charlie’s Chicks.

She lived to be a mom, she did it all. She seemed to know that her time with the girls was the most important thing.

She loved to sit by the campfire with a baby on her lap and roast marshmallows and laugh with friends. She could swim, dive, hike, bike, wrangle and pig, crawl under a porch and rescue a puppy, and oh oh oh she could LOVE………..

After her diagnosis, when the baby was only 7 1/2 months, she only complained one time. She always said, “I’m not going to die mom, I’ve got to live for my girls.” But Cancer is the enemy and it won in the end.

I pray her eyes have given the gift of Ronettes view on life. To see, and gooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

Love

Ronette’s Mom and Friend

In My Daughters’ Eyes

My wife passed away February 5, 2005 after a long, hard-fought battle with colon cancer which eventually metastasized to her lungs. It was a 3 1/2 year battle. Upon her passing, we were asked to donate her corneas. We all knew she would have been first in line to help someone if she could. Today, we received a letter from the EVERSIGHT explaining that a man and a woman had both benefited from her donation. The whole family was informed within 10 minutes. I’m sure many tears of joy were shed this afternoon.

The Clubb Family

Ronette was a beautiful young woman with blue eyes, which she was very proud of. Ronette and I would have been married 11 years this March. She was just 31. We shared a dream of raising 12 children; unfortunately, her illness terminated our dream. There is a song that was one of her favorites – In My Daughter’s Eyes by Martina McBride. You see, in this song, she speaks of seeing herself in her daughter’s eyes. Ronette and I were blessed with three of the most precious little girls in the world. They were her whole life until the very end. They are only 4, 6 and 8 years old, but they learned a lot from their mommy.

The girls and I all have my mother’s brown eyes – Ronette had hoped one day for a blue-eyed baby. As the song I referred to progresses, it tells us how Ronette will be there in her daughters’ eyes. The most important thing is that those are my “brown eyes” and it only makes sense that the girls should show her memory in their eyes. Ronette and I will always be together in their eyes, just as it has always been!

For now, we mourn her loss and take comfort in the fact that she has helped someone, even in her passing. I know the whole family would welcome any contact from the beneficiaries of her donation… Especially Ronette’s mother, who is an RN and spent the last 3 1/2 years literally by her side through the whole illness.

This donation has brought us all great comfort. Thank you from Ronette, and all of us, for the opportunity to help!

My Hero

My sister Ronette battled her cancer as a true HERO. She was the bravest, strongest and most determined person I had ever met. Ronette may have lost her battle to the cancer on 2-5-05; however, she fought ’til the very end. She was a wonderful mother, wife and friend to all. She touched many peoples’ lives in the short 31 years she was here. Ronette was the best sister anyone could ever ask for and is surely missed. For each day that goes by may seem like an eternity here it will only be a short journey for her until we meet again. To the people that received Ronette’s corneas, may you truly be able to live on through Ronette’s vision. Her vision was large and could see it all. I will make that my wish for you, that you can See It All!

To Ronette, May God Bless You. I miss you.

Love, Becki
