ANN ARBOR, Mich., May 3, 2021 — The Anna Botsford Bach Fund for Seniors, established by the Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation, awarded Eversight a $5,000 grant to provide sight restoration to Washtenaw county seniors in need.
Eversight’s charitable Gift of Sight program provides financial relief to under- or uninsured patients who otherwise may not be able to afford a sight-saving cornea transplant. Financial support provided through the Gift of Sight program depends on the needs of the patient, and ranges from $500 to $2,500.
This grant will allow up to 10 Washtenaw county seniors to receive corneal transplants, improving their quality of life and providing relief to caregivers. The Anna Botsford Bach Fund for Seniors provides support to organizations, services and programs that serve seniors in Washtenaw county.
“At this time, Eversight is especially focused on identifying patients who are unable to afford the cost of transplantations. The unprecedented loss of jobs throughout this COVID-19 pandemic has been compounded by the loss of insurance that has forced many people to postpone or forego sight-saving surgeries,” said Alex Teska, Eversight Philanthropy Director.
“Together, the Anna Botsford Bach Fund and Eversight are working to ensure that Washtenaw seniors and caregivers receive the support they need—particularly those who find themselves in difficult financial situations as a result of the pandemic.”
