Greater Toledo Community Foundation grant honors donors’ legacies and changes lives through the gift of sight

Eversight has been awarded a $15,000 grant to support corneal donation and transplantation in Monroe County, Michigan—helping local residents give the gift of sight and restoring vision for those in need. This investment strengthens donation and transplantation capacity in Monroe County, expanding access to sight-restoring care for patients both locally and beyond.

This project was funded by a grant from the Margaret Toth Fund of the Greater Toledo Community Foundation.

“Eversight is deeply grateful to Greater Toledo Community Foundation for their support in advancing our mission to restore sight and prevent blindness,” said Lora Cabarios, Vice President of Philanthropy, Eversight. “This funding will allow us to honor the wishes of donor families while helping more people regain their independence and quality of life through the power of restored sight.”

With this support, Eversight will purchase essential recovery supplies to enable 11 Monroe County residents to give the gift of sight, along with the materials needed to prepare four corneal tissues for transplant. These efforts will provide hope and healing to donor families while giving recipients the opportunity to see again.

Greater Toledo Community Foundation transforms generosity into lasting impact. With over $560 million in assets across 1,000+ funds, they have granted more than $370 million to strengthen education, health, arts and social services throughout their region.

Eversight remains committed to sustaining this impact through partnerships with individuals, foundations and corporate supporters. This grant represents an important step in helping more families honor their loved ones through donation—and more people experience the life-changing gift of sight.
