international womens day

Half of Eversight’s leadership team and 82% of frontline leaders are women dedicated to the gift of sight

Celebrating the women who lead Eversight from the front line to the board room

International Women’s Day is a global celebration observed on March 8 to honor the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality. The first International Women’s Day gathering was in 1911 and this year’s theme is #EmbraceEquity–a focus on gender equity, not only in the workplace but in everyday society.

Eversight recognizes and respects the many women who empower people and transform lives by demonstrating the values of service, drive and trust that are central to the nonprofit’s core culture.

In October 2022, Eversight earned three Top Workplaces National Culture Excellence awards, notably one for being a Woman-Led organization. The Woman-Led Top Workplaces award celebrates outstanding organizations whose most senior leader is a woman. But beyond this achievement, Eversight can proudly say that half of its leadership team is made up of women who dedicate their time and expertise to help make vision a reality for those in need.

These women include:

Julie Collins

Chief Financial & Administrative Officer

Collins joined Eversight in 2007 after holding positions as Managing Director at Comerica Insurance Services, as well as Director of Training and Development and Director of Accounting Services at Comerica Bank. Her 25 years of accounting, management and financial leadership has guided Eversight through a period of rapid growth in which the operational budget grew from $7 million to $25 million, and the employee count grew from 50 to 150.

Diane Hollingsworth

President/CEO

Hollingsworth has been with Eversight since 2010 after eight years at the National Kidney Foundation of Illinois where she served as Director of Medical Education. Hollingsworth currently serves as vice chair of the Vision Share Board of Directors and chair of the Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network Advisory Board. In addition, she is active with the Eye Bank Association of America, the American College of Healthcare Executives, and the Ann Arbor Host Lions Club.

Lauren Johnson

Director of Clinical Education & Training

Johnson joined Eversight in 2008 and built the organization’s Clinical Education & Training department. She has led, participated in, or supported many research and development initiatives focused on training and clinical procedures. Johnson’s research or collaborative research has been published in several peer-reviewed journals.

Caithlin Lopes

Director of Business Development

Lopes joined Eversight in 2013 and brings to her role more than 15 years of experience in the eye, organ and tissue field. She leads Eversight’s domestic partner relations efforts, guiding her team to forge relationships with surgeons that allow Eversight to continue to make vision a reality for patients across the country.

Cathy McClory

Director of Quality Improvement & Compliance

McClory began her career at Eversight in 1987 as a nurse coordinator performing all laboratory functions, as well as eye and tissue recoveries. During her years of service, she managed the Michigan laboratory and provided public and professional education programs throughout the state.

Juile McGahey

Director of Clinical Services

McGahey joined Eversight in 2012 and currently oversees the organization’s Donation Support Center and Donor Eligibility teams, which provide timely and compassionate support to donor families and ensure tissue intended for donation is suitable for transplantation and/or research.

In addition to these women leaders, an impressive 73% of all Eversight managers are women and 100% of supervisors are women. More than half of Eversight’s Board of Directors, including our Board Chair, are also women. These women leaders have fostered and continue to live out a core culture that helps empower people and transform lives.

This International Women’s Day, join Eversight in celebrating all its women leaders, and honor those who came before them and the countless who will follow.
