NEW JERSEY, July 22, 2024 – The Healthcare Foundation of New Jersey has awarded Eversight a $10,000 grant to support the purchase of sight-saving cornea recovery supplies to benefit Essex County residents in need and honor donor wishes.
As the primary eye bank serving New Jersey residents, Eversight works to ensure that cornea donor families may give the gift of sight and those in need of a transplant in New Jersey may receive this gift.
“The entire tissue transplantation process begins with a gift–the gift of sight,” said Marta Garczarczyk, Philanthropy Director, Eversight. “This gift is given selflessly by a donor and their family. Recognizing this, Eversight’s entire team strives to treat the tissue with respect, and express compassion for the donor family experiencing the loss of a loved one.”
With The Healthcare Foundation of New Jersey’s support, Eversight will recover up to 18 donated cornea tissues from Essex County donors.
“We operate at a high-level of care to ensure that the tissue given to us may be used for its intended purpose, and to ensure that those living with preventable visual impairments may have a second chance at sight,” Marta said. “With the Foundation’s generous gift, we can continue helping New Jersey residents in need and fulfilling more donor wishes.”
