Eversight is the sole eye bank serving Michigan and proudly partners with Gift of Life Michigan, Lions Clubs, surgeons, businesses and philanthropists throughout the state to advance our mission.
In 1957, the Michigan Eye Collection Center was founded, serving Michiganders for nearly 30 years. In 1985, other regional eye banks merged forming Midwest Eye-Banks and Transplantation Center, including the Upper Peninsula Lions Eye Bank in Marquette, Michigan in 1989. All helping to create one of the largest networks of eye banks in the United States: Eversight.
In 2023, we had the honor of working with the families of 2,091 Michigan residents who gave the gift of sight for transplantation, research and education as cornea donors. 1,463 Michiganders received sight-restoring transplants as a result of these selfless acts.
Gift of Life Michigan
Gift of Life Michigan is the state’s federally designated organ and tissue recovery program, providing all services necessary for organ donation to occur in Michigan. Gift of Life recovers more than 1,000 organs every year for transplantation from nearly 400 or more donors, saving hundreds of lives.
Through our partnership with Gift of Life, we have developed the systems, staffing and processes that allow us to better serve all organ, eye and tissue donors, families and recipients in Michigan and beyond.
