October 10, 2022 - Each year on the second Thursday of October (October 13 this year), the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) and institutions around the world celebrate World Sight Day to help focus attention on eye health as a global issue.
World Sight Day also aims to bring attention to the fact that while almost everyone on the planet will experience an eye health issue in their lifetime, more than a billion people do not have access to eye care services to correct, treat or prevent vision loss.
The World Health Organization’s World Report on Vision and the UN Resolution on Vision have cemented eye health as critical to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. But it takes all of us to help effect meaningful change. IAPB offers two ways for you to get involved with the World Sight Day initiative and remind everyone to take care of their eyes:
