Jan 14, 2026 — Alex Teska, Philanthropy Director
The start of a new year offers a natural pause after the holiday rush to reflect on what matters most and how we want to make a difference in the months ahead. This is the perfect time to revisit charitable goals and explore ways to give with greater intention.
Early-year planning not only simplifies your giving; it helps Eversight prepare for the year ahead, ensuring we can continue restoring sight, advancing research, and supporting donor families while working toward a world without preventable blindness.
Make a tax-savvy impact through your IRA
If you are 70½ years or older, you may be eligible to make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) directly from your IRA. For many, a QCD is one of the most tax-efficient ways to give—especially if you do not need the income from your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) which begins at age 73.
By directing a QCD to Eversight, you can:
- Fulfill part or all of your 2026 RMD
- Reduce taxable income
- Help restore sight for people living with preventable blindness
It’s a simple and powerful way to turn retirement assets into a lasting impact.
Use your Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) to plan ahead
If you give through a Donor-Advised Fund, early-year planning allows you to align your philanthropy with the causes you care about most — without the pressure of deadlines or paperwork.
A DAF gift to Eversight helps sustain our mission throughout the year, supporting:
- Compassionate donor family aftercare
- Research into blinding eye diseases
- Global programs that restore sight worldwide
Your planning today ensures these critical efforts continue tomorrow.

Simplify your giving—and strengthen your impact
Thoughtful planning now can make your year easier and your generosity even more meaningful. Whether through an IRA, DAF, or future gift, your support helps ensure that every donor’s gift reaches those who need it most. Be sure to consult your financial advisor to determine the best approach based on your unique tax situation.
