South Korea
Our mission began in 1947 with the establishment of the fourth eye bank in the United States, then known as the Illinois Eye-Bank. In 1985, it merged with the Michigan Eye-Bank to form the Midwest Eye Banks. From then on, other regional eye banks merged to form one of the largest networks of eye banks in the United States; Eversight. In 2015, Eversight established the first US-owned and operated eye bank outside of the United States in South Korea.
In 2024, Eversight’s South Korea team provided 860 sight-restoring cornea transplants. In addition, Eversight provided 3,392 tissues for sight-saving surgeries in other countries around the world.
