9 ½ years has gone by, yet it still feels like just yesterday I was sitting and talking with my brother Johnny. Every time I close my eyes, I picture him perfectly… hair always done, huge smile on his face, all while holding his baby daughter in his arms. He was such a happy person, got excited over little things like shopping at the mall or taking me to the movies. His passing at 21 years old was a shock, not only to the family, but to everyone that knew him. Our family had no idea how donating his organs and tissue would help with our grief. Johnny helped save and enhance the lives of 7 strangers, which I’m more than positive he would have wanted more than anything. Every donor recipient that I meet holds a spot in my heart for all 7 recipients of Johnny’s that I never got to meet!
