The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven has awarded Eversight a $20,000 grant to support clinical operations, provide surgeon education and training, and conduct vision research into blinding eye diseases. This generous investment will help ensure that people in the New Haven community—and those around the world—have access to the life-changing gift of sight.
“We are deeply grateful to The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven for believing in Eversight’s mission,” said Lora Cabarios, Vice President of Philanthropy, Eversight. “This first-time gift reflects a shared commitment to improving quality of life, expanding access to care and creating lasting impact for individuals and families affected by vision loss.”
In 2024, Eversight worked with the families of 33 New Haven cornea donors who made the selfless decision to give the gift of sight. Because of their generosity—and the support of philanthropic partners—56 cornea tissues were safely provided for transplantation, helping people regain vision and independence.
“Investments like this allow us to strengthen our mission,” Cabarios said. “From donor family support and surgical training to research that pushes the field forward, this gift helps ensure patients receive the best possible outcomes today while we work toward cures for tomorrow.”
The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven was established in 1928 as a permanent charitable endowment for the community. It is one of the oldest and largest community foundations in the country and the largest grant maker in Greater New Haven's twenty-town region. Its mission is to inspire, support, inform, listen to and collaborate with the people and organizations of Greater New Haven to build an ever more connected, inclusive, equitable and philanthropic community.
