Since expanding operations to Seoul in 2015, Eversight’s work in Korea has helped make sight-restoring surgery possible for thousands of people in need. Recently, one of those recipients, Ms. EunJin Jang, shared her heartfelt gratitude after receiving two successful cornea transplants made possible through Eversight’s global mission.
Ms. EunJin Jang underwent her first surgery on June 11, 2025 for Fuchs’ dystrophy. Just two months later, on August 13, she received a second surgery for her right eye. Both corneas were provided by Eversight, thanks to the generosity of two donors and their families.
Her surgeries were performed by Dr. Hun Lee at Asan Medical Center.
“Both corneas provided by Eversight were of excellent quality, and the surgical outcomes were very successful," Dr. Hun Lee said. "The recipient has shown noticeable improvement and is recovering well.”
A letter from double cornea recipient Ms. EunJin Jang

Hello, I am a 31-year-old woman living in Korea.
From a young age, I often experienced discomfort in my eyes, and because of a family history of Fuchs’ endothelial dystrophy, I was always concerned that I might face the same condition. In June 2025, I was diagnosed with Fuchs’ dystrophy by Dr. Hun Lee at Asan Medical Center in Seoul. He advised me that undergoing surgery before my vision worsened would be best, and after much thought, I decided to proceed.
Although I had anticipated the possibility due to my family history, the reality of needing eye surgery felt frightening and overwhelming. After careful consideration, I underwent a corneal transplant in my left eye in June. Thankfully, the recovery went smoothly, and I began noticing improvement in my vision. At a follow-up visit, Dr. Lee informed me that a donor cornea was also available for my right eye. Since my first surgery had gone well, I found the courage to proceed, and in August I successfully received a transplant for my right eye as well.
Both of my corneal transplants were made possible through the precious donations provided by Eversight Eye Bank. The surgeries were successful, and I am now in recovery, gradually regaining my sight and experiencing less discomfort in daily life.
All of this was only possible because of the generosity and selfless decision of the donor and their family. Thanks to this gift, I have regained the hope of seeing the world clearly again. Without it, I would not have the opportunity to enjoy life with healthy vision today.
I am deeply grateful from the bottom of my heart. Moving forward, I hope to share the love and hope I have received with others and live a life that brings strength to those around me.
Once again, I sincerely thank the donors and their families for this invaluable gift.
